Why Engaged

Not a skill set. A different version of you.

Six things change.

What changes

People expect to leave with techniques. What they actually leave with is a version of themselves that walks into things differently — because they practised, in front of people who told them the truth.

  1. 01

    You hold a room

The nerves do not disappear. They stop being in charge, which is a different thing entirely — and everybody else in the room can tell.

  2. 02

    You look forward to selling

The money conversation stops feeling like pretending to be somebody else. Eventually it becomes the part you are good at.

  3. 03

    You want to meet people

Events stop being something to get through. You go because there is somebody in there worth knowing, and you are no longer worried about the first sentence.

  4. 04

    A network that opens doors

Founders and leaders who introduce you, refer you and bring you opportunities. Not a group chat that went quiet in March.

  5. 05

    Press, podcasts and platforms

Ellie-Rose spent her career deciding which stories ran. You get the ones worth pitching, and help pitching them to the people who decide.

  6. 06

    People know who you are

A profile that shortens sales cycles and brings work to you. At Elite, a production day every month makes the content that does it.

The short version

From the outside it looks like confidence. From the inside it is just having done it enough times that it stopped being frightening.

The people behind Engaged

We spent our careers working out what makes people pay attention.

Between them: broadcasting, journalism, live events, storytelling and business. Not a training qualification between them, which is rather the point.

Ellie-Rose Griffiths

ITV Newsjournalist, reporter and presenter

Ellie-Rose spent her career in a newsroom deciding which stories ran. She knows what makes something interesting to a journalist because she was the journalist making the call — which is why the PR side of Engaged works nothing like an agency’s.

A newsroom teaches you one question and you never stop asking it: why would anybody care about this? Almost everyone has an answer. Almost nobody has said it out loud.
